Why should I build my own solar panels? Maybe you have never thought of that question, so here are some suggested reasons.
Six (6) reasons why everyone should build your own solar energy system.
1. It is the environmentally responsible thing to do. Whether you believe in man-made global warming or not, every one can agree that reducing you carbon footprint is a good thing and producing your own energy with solar panels is a step in the right direction.
2. Save money. Your can save money on your electric bill from month to month to month once you have your solar energy generator built and installed.
3. You can realize tremendous savings over retail. If you purchase a solar panel at retail price, it can cost over $1,000 whereas you can build one of equivalent quality from materials you can find readily for about $200. This huge savings will help you recoup your cost of the initial installation far faster than otherwise.
4. Start your own home business. Once you build one or two of these panels, like anything else, it get easier and faster. You can then sell them, even for a discount on retail and still make a handsome profit.
Our civilization has decided ... that determining the guilt or innocence of men is a thing too important to be trusted to trained men.... When it wants a library catalogued, or the solar system discovered, or any trifle of that kind, it uses up its specialists. But when it wishes anything done which is really serious, it collects twelve of the ordinary men standing round. The same thing was done, if I remember right, by the Founder of Christianity.
—Gilbert Keith Chesterton (18741936)
5. Increase the value of your home. When you install solar panels in your home you immediately increase its value. This energy saving installation now becomes an added money saving feature that other homes will not have, which of course makes it more valuable.
6. It is just plain FUN!! Building your own solar panel can be both a challenging and fun project for yourself and/or your friends and family.
Okay, so you now have some suggested reasons and this list is not exhaustive by any means.
Hope this gives you something to think about, but the next logical questions would be.
A. How easy is it to build?
B. Can I do it myself?
C. Where do I start?
And, shrilling from the solar course,
Or from fruit of chemic force,
Procession of a soul in matter,
Or the speeding change of water,
Or out of the good of evil born,
Came Uriels voice of cherub scorn,
And a blush tinged the upper sky,
And the gods shook, they knew not why.
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
Well the short answer is:
Yes, it is easy!! and
Absolutely! You can do it yourself (with a little guidance).
